Sarah's Story: Calm Out of Chaos

Maeve helps Sarah to get her first apartment under control. #organizing

Before Maeve's Method

As a librarian and craft-lover, Sarah often brought projects home and had supplies delivered to her apartment. She contacted Maeve to help her manage the flow of items into and out of her home, and to create #systems to use her space effectively.

Her biggest issues were overflowing built-in bookshelves, and a tendency to drop work-related items on her living rooms chairs.

After Maeve's Method

Maeve’s Method helped Sarah to clear #clutter from her bookshelves, reading couch, and the surrounding area. They discussed the importance of finding space where work projects and materials could live, rather than on the room's furniture. Maeve and Sarah freed Sarah's favorite big, pink, velvet chair, creating a cozy seating area.

Sarah was so inspired by the new space that she purchased a brand new desk. When it arrived she tried it out in a spaces in the room, then took pictures to bounce the placement off Maeve, in an email entitled, "AWESOME green desk!!!"

"So, I tried the desk both under the "Let's Book" poster & in front of the fire-escape window," Sarah said. "I have to say that I like it better in front of the window. Yes, it blocks access to the two cabinet doors. But, when the desk is underneath the poster it looks & feels a lot more cramped." Sarah ended her email by saying, "Thoughts?"

Maeve agreed with Sarah, that the desk under the window really opened up the room, and allowed her to keep the big pink chair in a cozy corner, helping to balance the room. In the end, Sarah created a calm and creative room to relax, read, and work on her crafts, and her living room transformed.
