Meet Megan, New Maeve’s Method Coach

Maeve interviews Megan, our newest Maeve's Method organization coach.

Last summer I received an email from a woman in Chicago, a ballet dancer exploring second careers. Her career coach encouraged her to speak to those already in the field. We had a lovely chat on the phone, and I found myself asking, might she like to train long distance with me?

I’ve long dreamed of having coaches across the country. With the idea for a formal coach training program already percolating for fall, I threw the idea out there. To my delight, Megan Wright said yes.

Megan and her husband came to New York City last August for a summer vacation. We met for coffee, and I was struck by her easy-going demeanor. Training took place last winter (entirely by video) and I am so proud to say that thanks to Megan’s amazing abilities and perseverance, Maeve’s Method is now anchored in Chicago, with coach Megan Wright at the helm. I sat down this month to video chat with Megan about her new life as an organizer and Maeve’s Method coach. #coaching

Maeve: What inspired you to get started in the home organizing field?

Megan: Organizing has always been a passion of mine. I have always loved keeping track of my belongings and I enjoy knowing exactly where they live. This may be due to the fact that I shared a room with my sister growing up. Teaching is another passion of mine. Maeve’s Method coaching allows me to combine both of these skills.

Maeve: What do you enjoy most about being a Maeve’s Method coach?

Megan: I enjoy helping people discover that organization is a skill they can learn and continue to practice.

Maeve: What’s an example of a recent client experience where coaching helped to turn their life around?

Megan: I had a client who has had trouble in the past with organizing due to getting sidetracked by other projects. She loved how I kept her on task and encouraged her to wait to redistribute items that did not belong until the end. This new skill allowed her to feel more capable of tackling the rest of her home and maintaining the new order she created.

Maeve: What do you enjoy most about helping people in their homes?

Megan: I enjoy meeting new people and seeing where and how they live. I also enjoy witnessing their sense of pride and accomplishment when they complete a project.

Maeve: Aside from coaching, what are some other interests in your life?

Megan: I enjoy teaching ballet. It keeps me connected to my former career as a professional ballet dancer. The best part is providing students with something physically and mentally challenging to care about and call their own. The sense of community it provides has a lasting effect, regardless of whether they turn their years of training into a dance career. I also enjoy performing in Chicago as an improvisor. I recently graduated from the iO Theater, and have appeared in a variety of performances at iO, Second City, and the Playground Theater.

Maeve: We all want to know, what’s your home like? Tell us what you enjoy most about returning to your own home?

Megan: Our home is a warm and charming vintage rehab with beautiful original woodwork. It is filled with my husband, Nate Otto’s, artwork as well as a variety of art by our artist friends. Our dog Rizby is the sweetest pup, and we love sharing our space with him. Aside from our small wardrobes, kitchen essentials, books, a small record collection, and Nate’s art supplies, we do not keep too many belongings in our home. Neither of us really enjoy shopping, so that certainly helps. Looking for an organizer in Chicago who can also teach your kids to pirouette? Contact coach Megan Wright today:
