Our homes are an important and influential piece of our lives. How you feel when you walk in your door, when you wake up, or while hosting parties, affects every part of your day.
So often we get stuck in the mentality that there is a right way to organize our space; we get caught up in trends with out thinking about how we really feel about them. During a month focused on love, we encourage you to find time to feel happy in your home – and here are some tips to personalize your space!
Organize Your Way

An organized home doesn’t need to be empty or look pristine. Some people love to use boxes to corral items; others love to see their stuff out on the shelves. The point is that there’s no right or wrong way to organize your things and collections. Hold on to the quirks that define your style: stack favorite magazines, scatter jewelry across a bedroom dresser top. Give your items a home and display your collections in a way that makes you smile.
Showcase Your Treasures

Your home is a place to share the things that you love, so go ahead and display your favorite things. Get creative with your displays of treasured items! Shadow boxes can be a fun way to frame your favorite items whether it’s jewelry, kid’s art, souvenirs, or your grandmother’s scarf collection. Not only will you show your personality throughout your home, you’ll create your own, meaningful artwork at the same time!
Do What You Love
Maeve’s guilty pleasure: Flinging Clothes.
Dropping clothes on the floor is usually a big no no, but after a long day at work I love to leave everything from the day in a big heap on my bedroom floor; the last thing I want to do is fold my clothes and hang my jacket. And that’s ok! It makes me happy and I pick up the mess after I’ve relaxed. Embrace the habits that make you happy. It’s your home; make decisions on what is most comfortable for you!
Make Your Habits Work
While we encourage you to embrace habits that make you happy, sometimes these habits can create a mess and cause stress for you or those you live with. Don’t be so quick to give up on your happy-habits; try to find a way to work with them.
If you’re like me and you just can’t get yourself to put clothes away immediately, create a system! Find a fun, colorful chair, or hang some interesting hooks, and use them to drape clothes. You’ll be able to relax at home with your things out of the way, and then you can decide when to take care of your things. Try a few solutions to make your habits work for you, and find the one that works best! How have you showcased your style at home? Share your ideas in the comments below!
