My Love For Working With Kids
Maeve shares her love working with kids, and why she welcomes them into her process.
When I first began my career I was lucky enough to have children as young as two years old wander into a session as I worked with mom or dad. Their interest in what we were doing – and their desire to help – transformed my work. They always had something to say or share, and when we gave them a chance to add their two cents, or helped to move things around, it greatly improved the process. It showed me that the key to organizing for kids is to work with them, never around them, and as much as possible, to involve them in the process. #kidpower

A Student Teacher
When I was eighteen years old I had an amazing opportunity. I got to be a student teacher at an innovative pre-school. This amazing school took a holistic approach to education, and I learned far more than how to teach ABCs. I learned that environment matters. I learned that kids do better at picking up and putting things away when they know where things live. I learned that volume overwhelms kids. I learned that kids experience frustration when they can’t easily find favorite books, toys and games. And that if they can easily find things when they need them, they are more likely to put them away when they are done.
As I developed my business, all of these factors came into play, as my instinct when I launched Maeve’s Method Coaching for Kids was to make sure that kid organization included a child's involvement and participation, and that the organization of their toys, rooms, clothing and closets and their play spaces included them, even if only a little bit.
